Personal Testimonies
Here are some of our member's Personal Testimonies, I hope they're Inspirational.
Brad's Testimony
Hello, my name is Brad. I was born into a Christian Family environment, I went to church on Sunday, Vacation Bible School in the Summer, had loving caring Christian Parents, Grandparents, two wonderful Great Grandmothers, and until I was a little over a year old I had one Great Great Grandmother! I grew up in a small southern Indiana town, and it seemed to me as though "everybody" was a Christian!
As I grew though, I found that there was a difference in people, while most said they believed in Jesus, some didn't act like it. I realized that my Dad, who was a "good man", had not yet taken Jesus as his Savior. So I watched and listened to my dad, and found that he knew a lot about living a "Christian" life. So, after years of reading the Bible, and studying it much better than I ever had, my Dad accepted Jesus as his personal Savior. I watched him as he learned to lean on Jesus when his health started to fail, I watch him get angry that he was going to have to sell the business that he and my uncle had worked so hard to build. I watched as he finally smiled and said,"The Lord has always taken care of us and I don't suppose He'll stop now." I watched my Dad lose our house, the one that he had spent the family savings on to rewire and re-plumb, and bring up to code. Yet through it all my Mom and Dad still put their faith in The Lord, went to Church on Sunday, and taught the Churches Youth Group. All the while, "Living their Faith."
I had already taken the Lord as my Savior several years before, and as I was now a teenager, I was voted President of the Youth Group. I had spent a lot of time praying that the Lord would send me a Wife that shared my Christian Values, and one night we invited a smaller Church's Youth Group to join ours and together we would be a group of 12 to 15 kids. That night the Lord gave me the first sight of a beautiful young girl, with long wet hair, wearing a red t-shirt and blue-jeans, that was the first time I ever saw Robin! (My Wife of 33 years now!)
Robin and I talked a lot about what it meant to us to be "Christians", to have a Christ centered Life, and to provide a Christian upbringing for our future Children! (We wanted 3, but were only blessed with 1 girl, Amber! in 1988.) We got married in Church and took our vows before the Lord, October 8th, 1983!
The road has not always been smooth, at 27 I had Thyroid Cancer, at 35 I developed a heart problem, A-Fib., at 47, I got a Gall Stone, which led to the removal of my Gal Bladder, Pancreatitis, Kidney Failure, 3 blood infections and eventually my Pancreous began to be destroyed and they had to partially remove the dead tissue around it. I'm telling you all this because I spent 7 months in the hospital with the Doctors giving my wife the news that I only had a "Very small chance of survival!"
My wife came to visit with me all but 2 or 3 days of this ordeal while trying to keep our daughter taken care of, and at times splitting her time between hospitals due to her Mom being ill. My Wife held onto her faith through the entire ordeal, and if it hadn't been for Jesus' loving mercy and healing I would not have made it, but Jesus is worthy of the Faith and Trust we put in Him!!
I went through the same loss that my Dad had to go through, I also lost my savings, my house, my ability to work, and had a lot of days that I felt sorry for myself, but Jesus was still there with me through it all! I was so Blessed to have Lived, to have my wife faithfully by my side, to have had such a wonderful example from my parents! That is why I can now, some six years later say with Joy, "The Lord has always taken care of us, and I don't suppose He'll stop now!"
Sorry this is so long, but I could write a book about all of the things the Lord has provided, and it gives me Joy to be a child of the King! Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, The Holy Spirit who Works as our Comforter and Healer, and God our Holy Father, who loved us so much that He gave His only Begotten Son to save us from our sin! Thank You Jesus!
Anna’s Testimony
My name is Anna, I am 76 years old, and I try to be a kind, good-hearted person to everybody even when they are not kind to me. I was saved as an adult. My friends, Jack and Joann, kept asking my husband, James, and I to go to their church with them. One Easter we did go to church with them and continued going to church with them after that. I watched people go up to pray at the altar at the end of services. One Sunday when Pastor Jim asked if people wanted prayer, I went up to the altar, and I asked the Lord into my heart. After that, some Sundays I would walk to the altar with people in the church and pray with them and some Sundays they would walk with me to the altar and pray with me. When I pray, I just talk to the Lord like he is sitting here with me. I told the Lord every bad thing I had ever done; I left nothing out. Some years later my husband died. Jack and Joann were so good to me and helped me out. I even gave a testimony in this church and told how Jack and Joann helped me and were so good to me.
Sandra's Testimony
My name is Sandra and I would like to share with you how my walk with God has changed my life.
When I was 18, in church, I openly accepted God as my Lord and Savior and was baptized. From that time on I tried to live a "good" life but I didn't put God first in my life, I gave him what was left over. It wasn't until a little over 10 years later, lying in bed one night, holding my 2 year old daughter who had been diagnosed with leukemia that I began my true walk with God. Not knowing if she would live or die, I cried and poured my heart out to God. God heard me and that night my life changed forever. I started my true walk with God. I found my best friend and I knew that, no matter what the outcome, God would be right beside me walking me through anything that would happen. I found peace.
35 years later He still walks beside me daily and is still my best friend. I have learned to put God first in my life and He has always made sure I have everything I need. Through reading the Bible and prayer He guides me every day to try and live the life He wants me to live. Since then, I have had ups and downs, financial problems, health issues, lost loved ones, and have been through times that seemed hopeless but I never stopped putting my faith in Him and He has never let me down. He has always been right by my side, walking me through it, and I know He always will be. Because of God I know I can make it through every day.
